Reporting and Title IX Grievance Process

At  E.C. Goodwin Technical High School we are committed to ensuring every student, staff member and member of the community at large is able to voice their concerns, raise issues, and report problems. Sometimes those who wish to report an issue want to remain anonymous. 

Additionally, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities. In alignment with these rules, Goodwin Tech does not discriminate on the basis of sex in the education programs and activities it operates. Sexual harassment is prohibited, whether by students, employees, or third parties subject to substantial control by Goodwin Tech and CTECS.

It is the express policy of Goodwin Tech, as part of the CTECH system, to encourage students to promptly report sexual harassment  and discrimination. The Student Grievance Procedures For Sexual Harassment Pursuant to Title IX outlines the process followed when there is an alleged Title IX violation. Students may bring their concerns to any staff member to start, including a teacher, school counselor, or administrator. The School Equity Coordinator, whose contact is listed below, is charged with working with the student and his/her family prior to the official filing of a complaint. The role of the Equity Coordinator is to ensure the student’s rights are protected and the grievance process is followed with fidelity.

If a student raises a concern or files a complaint related to Title IX,  Goodwin Tech offers the following supportive measures during the investigative process:

• • Counseling
  • Extensions of deadlines or other course-related adjustments
  • Modifications of work or class schedules
  • Mutual restrictions on contact between the parties
  • Increased monitoring of certain areas of the Wright Tech campus.
