Carpentry Field Trip.
June 17, 2026
A few days ago, the sophomores in Mr. L’s Carpentry Shop had the opportunity to visit Mystic Seaport Museum for an educational field trip.

During their visit, students observed skilled craftsmen restoring historic wooden ships throughout the shipyard. They learned about the specialized methods, materials, and tools used to preserve and restore these boats, as well as the techniques involved in maintaining and repairing ship damage. The visit to the seaport also provided insight into the science behind selecting specific wood types and restoration tools for each project, highlighting the importance of both craftsmanship and engineering in maritime preservation.
We wanted to share this valuable and engaging learning experience with you and celebrate the opportunity our students had to connect their classroom learning with real-world applications.
